Tamur Expedition
A Magnificent whitewater expedition, one of the best in the World. The river flows along the beautiful and untouched valleys of the Eastern Nepal. One of the most scenic river routes offered by Nepal.
A beautiful mountain river only a few hours from Kathmandu offering a relaxed day rafting or kayaking day trips at all classes of challenge.
From afar this river looks little more than a mountain stream, alas, it has one of the steepest decent on a paddle-able river in Nepal and it's huge water flow tumbles down from the Tibetan high plains and makes some of the wildest rapids in the world. At its height, after the monsoon, this river is a 16 km white water jungle and one hell of a wild ride, at its low it's a formidable splash and bash trip. For sure the Bhote Kosi is one of the most exciting rivers in Nepal and found only three hours from Kathmandu, it's a must do for all adrenaline junkies.
A journey of around 3 hours takes us out of Kathmandu and to the river side camp down near the Dam. We take lunch then proceed rafting on the Upper Sun Kosi (Lower Bhote Kosi). This section is a nice warm up for the upper section of the river the following day. We take out the river at Sukuti and then drive up to the Last Resort where we will spend the night.
Wake up guys because this time we are going higher up the river for more white water fun! 'Frog in the Blender is the biggy of the morning, any guesses for who is the frog? Our fun starts at a rapid named 'Carnal Knowledge of a Deviant Nature' which is a long serious of boulders and holes that will test your nerve and paddling skill, the rapid ends in a huge drop and from here it just gets more full on with 6km of continuous class 3 to 4 rapids that will have you screaming your pants off! After a short flat section and a passage through a lush steep-side gorge allowing us to catch our breaths and de-clamp our hands off the paddles, yet another series of rapids begins. 'The Great Wall' (not always run- able), is followed by one of the most fun sections of river 'Liquid Bliss', 'Fake Right, Go Left' and finally 'My God What to Do?' ends as we pull into the river side bar for a well earned rest and perhaps a cold beer! From here it's all over my friends as we have lunch and pack up ready to head for the two and half hour drive back to Kathmandu.
